ASANI’S INTERIORS BY BERGMAN DESIGN HOUSE BLEND ART, NATURE AND MOVEMENT TO CREATE A TIMELESS SPACE OF SERENITY AND SOUL.
Marie Soliman and Albin Berglund, the visionary duo behind Bergman Design House, are renowned for redefining luxury interiors, from five-star hotels to private residences and superyachts. Their artistry had caught the eye of Danella Hopkins, founder of LASS Studio and owner’s representative for ASANI. “I was immediately drawn to their passion for art and knew they were destined for this project,” she reflects.
Bergman Design House was tasked with refining ASANI’s sophisticated, neutral architecture by Benetti, breathing life into the design with art, bespoke furnishings and an organic sense of movement. Every space was thoughtfully composed to unfold its own story while effortlessly weaving a harmonious narrative.
The word beautiful doesn’t exist in Bergman Design House’s vocabulary. Instead, the design studio harnesses language unique to each project, crafting narratives that transcend aesthetics. For ASANI, the words intimacy, flow, poetry and motion became the guiding philosophy behind an interior designed to embrace guests in comfort and serenity.
Honouring Benetti’s original design language was key. “Rather than disrupt the clean, engineered lines, we danced with them,” describes Marie. The masculine precision was preserved while a feminine counterbalance was subtly layered in. Against a canvas of ivory and deep earth tones, movement and hues drawn from the natural world were woven in. Contrast and paradox create intrigue, and ASANI is a study in both.
Rather than relying on shades of blue to bring in the ocean, Bergman Design House sought to capture its soul – its shifting light, rippling currents and ceaseless motion. Nowhere is this more evident than in the Mattia Bonetti coffee table by David Gill Gallery in the upper saloon. Its thick, acrylic surface is sculpted like a wave, refracting light like water in motion. “Though motionless, it breathes with the sea, mirroring its shifting surroundings,” says Marie.
Bespoke rugs echo nature’s touch underfoot. Crafted from wool and silk, the layered textures undulate like tide-sculpted sand. Shadows and silhouettes are reflected in the colourways, deepening their sense of movement. Every detail is deliberate, a quiet homage to the earth’s natural rhythms.
In the master suite, the motion of the wind takes form in Ula Saniawa’s breathtaking ceramic installation. Unfurling across the headboard, it evokes both intimacy and flow. In the main saloon, a sculptural Gilles Caffier vase subtly divides the comfortable seating area from the dining area. Its abstracted coral form appears as if plucked from the ocean floor and reimagined in an artist’s hands. “ASANI is about fluidity, but also precision – nature translated through an engineered lens,” adds Marie.
Art, a cornerstone of ASANI’s identity, was meticulously curated to complement the owner’s private collection. Each piece, whether from an established artist or an emerging talent, enriches ASANI’s narrative, with other works by Roi James and Sougwen Chung selected to adorn the walls. “ASANI feels like an artist-in-residence at sea,” explains Marie. “For a yacht of this size, the volume of art onboard is extraordinary.”
Yet beyond art, beyond design, lies the true measure of an interior: how it makes you feel. “Stepping aboard ASANI feels like slipping into stillness, where time slows and peace takes hold,” Marie reflects.
